The
National Forestry Corporation (CONAF) is a private entity under the Ministry of
Agriculture, whose main task is to manage the forest policy of Chile and
encourage the development of the sector.
The
Corporation is managed by an Executive Director, currently Mr. Aaron Cavieres
Cancino, and has a mission to "contribute to the sustainable management of
native forests, xerophytic formations and forest plantations through the
advocacy, monitoring of forest and environmental legislation and the protection
of vegetation resources and the conservation of biodiversity through the
National System of Protected Areas for the benefit of society.
